Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)

General Information:

The General Test measures verbal, quantitative, and analytical skills that have acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.  The verbal measure tests your ability to analyze and evaluate written material and synthesize information obtained from it, analyze relationships among component parts of sentences, and recognize relationships between words and concepts.  The quantitative measure tests your basic mathematical skills and your understanding of elementary mathematical concepts, as well as your ability to reason quantitatively and solve problems in a quantitative setting.  The analytical measure tests your ability to understand structured sets of relationships, deduce new information from sets of relationships, analyze and evaluate arguments, identify central issues and hypothesis, draw sound inferences, and identify plausible casual explanations.

General Test (Computer-Based Testing):  $115.00

Subject Test (Paper-Based Testing):  $130.00

Writing Assessment:  $50.00

Testing Schedule for GRE General Tests:

The GRE General Test is no longer available as a paper and pencil test, but is now exclusively given online.  Arkansas Tech University DOES NOT offer the GRE General Test.  Students needing to take the GRE General Test should make an appointment with the closest testing center.  A list of these centers can be found on the following page. 

Testing Schedule for GRE SubjectTests:

Arkansas Tech University offers the GRE Subject Tests and Writing Assessment only.  To register for Subject Tests, students may pick up a registration packet at the University Testing Center or register online at www.gre.org.  The GRE Subject Tests are given at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays several times during each academic school year.  See the following page for test dates for this academic school year.

Study Guides/Additional information:

The website www.gre.org provides additional information about the GRE.  Study guides for the GRE can usually be found in most bookstores or can be ordered online.
